Naran Kaghan Valley is one of the most beautiful parts of northern areas of Pakistan. It is located in Mansehra district, KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhawa). Naran Kaghan Valley is very popular tourist attraction. It is about 119 kilometers from Mansehra city.

Naran Kaghan Valley is very scenic town which attracts tourists and photographers from all around the world every year. Naran has a famous river Kunhar which passes through the town.

Culture and Society

Hindko and Gojri are two main local languages but majority of people can speak and understand Urdu. Local people of Naran Kaghan Valley are nice and friendly. Most families depend on tourism for their living, however dry fruits and handicrafts are key part of local economy.

Lake Saiful Muluk

Lake Saiful Muluk is probably the best thing about Naran Kaghan valley and which alone brings majority of people to the area. Lake Saiful Muluk has a spiritual side and mentioned a lot in poetry and fairy tales.

Mian Muhammad Bakhsh of Khari Sharif wrote a complete book which is about a prince of Persia who fell in love with fairy princess at the lake. The lake is so beautiful that people believe fairies come down to lake in full moon.

The area is covered with beautiful wild flowers and pine forests.

Accommodation in Naran Kaghan Valley

There are various types of hotels in Naran Kaghan Valley, ranging from high-end luxury hotels to very low priced hotels. Majority of people like to camp there, but some families like to stay in tent motels.

Transport

Public transport runs few times a day from Mansehra in summer. PTDC (Pakistan Tourist Development Corporation) has an air conditioned bus service between Rawalpindi and Naran. You can take N15 if you are using your own transport. Roads usually get blocked in winter due to heavy snowfall. Naran has good coverage of mobile signals so you are well connected there.

Naran Kaghan Valley’s climate is warm and temperature is usually high. Naran gets substantial rainfall around the year

Kaghan valley is an awesome place for trekking and hill walking. If you like rafting in rivers then you will like Kunar river because it has some sections for beginners and some challenging ones for experienced.

Trout fishing is a big activity for visitors in the Naran Kaghan Valley but you must get fishing license from Fisheries Department at Shinu or at Naran. Bring your own gear or you can rent equipment from Naran.
