Easypaisa Brings Solar Energy in Pakistan With No Electricity

As Pakistanis are continuously suffering from its crippling energy shortage,

Telenor Pakistan, Tameer Microfinance Bank and Roshan Energy have collaborated to launch a first of its kind solar-powered home solution for the low-income part, which is off the national network.

Easypaisa has also collaborated with Roshan Energy to launch Solar Home Solutions in Pakistan. Customers can pay the charges through Easypaisa.

“This initiative will empower 40% of Pakistanis who live off the grid with access to clean and affordable solar energy,” Telenor Pakistan’s Chief Financial Services Officer Yahya Khan said during a media roundtable at the company’s Karachi office.

According to Khan, a large number of the country’s rural population lacks access to electricity and depends on expensive, inefficient fuel-based sources.

Solar Home Solution in Pakistan will provide a sustainable, affordable and long-lasting electricity solution for people.

Customers has facility to pick the solar equipment whether for a full month or just for a day.

Currently, consumers have been offered three kinds of solar energy systems: basic for Rs27,500, deluxe for Rs38,500 and enhanced for Rs49,500.

The Solar Kits have a unique microcontroller which shuts down the Solar System automatically once the Top-Up amount has been consumed.

When all instalments are paid, the microcontroller becomes inactive and the Solar Solution will continue functioning without requirement of any further Top-Ups.

Solar Home solutions in Pakistan with 15% upfront payment with remaining paid off over 18 months through Easypaisa

This innovative pay-as-you-go model enables customers to purchase and use Roshan Energy’s reliable solar solutions with an upfront payment of just 15%, whereas the remaining payments can be paid within 18 months through Easypaisa.

This product is developed on pay-as-you-go (PAYG) model. The product enables users to to top-up their Solar Home Solution from any of the 55,000 Easypaisa shops across the country or directly through their Easypaisa Mobile Accounts.

The Solar Home Solution has been rolled out in Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tharparker and Rahim Yar Khan so far.

Currently, customers can avail this facility that the loan applications are accepted at selected Tameer Bank branches and Telenor Sales and Service Centres, with the aim of extending the solution to all Easypaisa shops.
