Islamabad Civic Hackathon Open for Applications

Here are so many issues in the society that need a solution. There is lack of proper learning platforms for purposes of awareness. However, here is an initiative with upcoming Islamabad Civic Hackathon, to gather the people and provide them a platform to create solutions for existing problems in society.

Islamabad Civic Hackathon

The Event

Code for Pakistan has opened registrations for a 3-day Civic Hackathon to be held in Islamabad from February 20th, 2015 to February 22nd, 2015.

The main focus of the Hackathon will be to create solutions for existing problems in society. It can be done through a collaborative work from civic-minded designers, web developers, hackers, mappers, data analysts, journalists and innovators.

It offers a united front for those creative minds with solutions to the little problems in our society.

The 3-day event at NUST SEECS, Islamabad is meant for all and various willing to change the city for the better with creativity and innovation.

The Agenda

The participants will be organised in various teams that can find different solutions which can be helpful to solve existing civic issues. They will have the support of experts in the government and proper mentoring will assist them to fine-tune their ideas, if need be.

Participants will be able to enjoy free meal.

Civic Innovation Lab

It is expected that Code for Pakistan will also launch Islamabad Civic Innovation Lab and Women and Tech initiative at its Islamabad Civic Hackathon event. The Civic Innovation Lab will help apps to continue being developed and deployed after the hackathon event.

Women and Tech Initiative

Women and Tech Initiative will most probably involve all girls in the country to participate in the event. Code for Pakistan is also encouraging women to participate in the hackathon and come up with creative solutions.

Schedule for Islamabad Civic Hackathon

It is a 3-day event from February 20th to the 22nd. Participants will be grouped together in various teams on the first evening from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

Prizes for winners will follow on the final day from 9am to 9pm. Anyone who wish to partake in the event, he/she can apply at CodeForPakistan website by the 8th of February.

The Organisers

Code for Pakistan is a non-profit organisation that wants to enhance the quality of life of Pakistani people. It wants to bring positive changes to the civic ecosystem. It aims to rebuild trust in civic institutions by bringing together field experts in the government and tech developers outside it.

This civic engagement is really a good initiative that can bridge the gap between government and the citizens and it can be very helpful to make the process much simpler.
