- Pakistani

A ceremony was held, between HEC and between Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).

The ceremony was held at HEC Secretariat where an agreement is signed for provisioning of wireless internet services (EVO) to talented students.

This project comes under Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme. Mr. Anwar Amjad, Director General (IT) HEC and Mr. Muhammad Basharat Qureshi, Executive Vice President (Corporate Sales) PTCL signed the agreement.

This internet facility is designated by HEC to the students who meet the criteria. Both the parties PTCL and HEC have agreed to provide white labelled EVO Wireless Internet Services to the students on special monthly rates.

HEC shall issue these EVO connections only to designated students. Terms and conditions should be applied for the scheme.

Students will be offered free EVO devices with special packages or they will be able to avail usual EVO packages with 20 percent discount.

The device shall be activated within 72 hours from the time a request is submitted by the student at PTCL customer centres.
These devices should be kept in check as PTCL said that it will have to block any device found to be resold or available for sale in the open market.

EVO devices shall be delivered to HEC within time period of three months; however same will be distributed to all eligible institutions. The guideline about the usage of the device will also be included in the package.

It will facilitate the students, telling them the procedures for activation and reactivation of device. A list of PTCL service centres will also be available across Pakistan.

No doubt this is a wonderful effort to motivate and encourage the students. This initiative will empower the students of Pakistani universities and other institutions to work more efficiently for a bright future.
