Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy invited to join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences USA

The Oscar winning Pakistani director, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, has been invited by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences USA to join the organisation as a participating member.

Sharmeen is the first person from her country Pakistan, to participate in such a giant platform.  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 276 artists from all over the world who have made exceptional contributions to theatrical motion pictures.

The artists who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the academy’s membership in 2013.

She seemed really excited about her inclusion in the list of invitees who will be attending the event. Sharmeen said,
“Being invited to join the Academy of Motion Pictures is a great honor and privilege; I feel humbled to be the first Pakistani to gain membership into such a prestigious institution.”

In 2012, the Pakistani filmmaker, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy got great fame when she won the Oscar award for her critically acclaimed ‘Saving Face‘.

Till now she has an Emmy award, an Academy Awards, and a Lux Style Award for life time achievement, under her belt. Government of Pakistan has also conferred Tamgha-e-Imtiaz on her.

She is very hopeful about the upcoming generation of Pakistani filmmakers and hoped that there are many other local filmmakers in the future who can make it big worldwide.

Sharmeen’s achievements over the past few years are really praiseworthy and helpful for the local industry to stand on its own feet.

She is an excellent example for the young generation that no matter how worse the condition is, but still efforts are required. She gives the idea if you rely on quality and the content, then you can surely be successful not only on the local scale but also internationally.

She has been presenting Pakistan with a very string manner at international level. Such hardworking Pakistanis are the great asset of the country.
