Lahore Metro Bus Service inaugurated on 10th Feb 2013

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the much awaited Lahore Metro Bus Service in Nishtar Colony today.  This bus service is consisted of 27 bus stations.

A Turkish delegation, led by the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister participated in the inaugural ceremony as well as the Chief of PML-N Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif were also present in the ceremony and travelled in the bus during the inauguration event.

On the inauguration ceremony, Metro Bus routes and stations were decorated with fresh flowers. Different posters were placed representing Pakistani culture.

The thrilling people of Lahore celebrated the event with drum beating and dancing.

Shahbaz, speaking at the event, said that it was a “great” day in the history of Pakistan. He said that not only factory workers will travel in these buses, but factory owners will also travel in them soon.

“Patients will go to hospitals through these buses. Our doctors and nurses will also travel through them,” he said adding that he himself will use these buses to travel.

Many ambassadors and politicians have also attended the inauguration ceremony including Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Mawaz, Talat Bugti, American consulate Nina Maria, Chaudhry Nisar, Liaqat Baloch, and chief secretary Punjab Tariq Masood Khosa.

Metro bus service will provide free service to general public for first one month. A modern e-ticketing system has been introduced for the bus project. There are separates seats for disable people.

The project of Metro Bus Service his being completed in eleven months period at the cost of 30 billion rupees.
