Fatima Jinnah Women University is situated in Rawalpindi on Mall road.  It is housed in a building which was old presidency. Fatima Jinnah Women University was established in 1998. inaugurated by Nawaz Sharif (Prime Minister at that time). Dr Najma Najam was its first Vice Chancellor.

This building was originally built as a residence by two famous Sikh brothers, Mohan Singh and Sohan Singh of Rawalpindi. Great personalities Ch. Fazal Elahi, President Zia-ul-Haq and Benazir Bhutto have walked in the corridors of this building.

Fatima Jinnah Women University is the first female university in Pakistan. A sub-campus of Fatima Jinnah Women University is being established at Sialkot from 2008. Fatima Jinnah Women University is a symbol to promote women’s Education at a maximum level.
Fatima Jinnah Women University has a vision to promote studies and research in various fields of higher education.

Fatima Jinnah Women University offers a variety of different programs for students.

•    The bachelors(under graduates) program consists of 8  semesters (7 study semesters and a semester for research work)
•    Masters program consists of 5 semesters (4 study semesters and a semester for research work)
•    M.Phil. in Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) (consisted of 4 taught courses and a research based thesis).
•    M.Phil. leading to PhD program.

Fatima Jinnah Women University has relative marking system including assignments, projects, presentations mid-term exams and final term exams. Fatima Jinnah Women University conduct co-curricular activities to enable students to come forward and present their abilities.

Fatima Jinnah Women University provides opportunities to women to develop their confidence and to bring their hidden abilities out. It empowers women that they can do as much work as they want.
