Shalimar Garden Lahore: Beauty of Pakistan (great asset of Pakistan)

Lahore is the second biggest city of Pakistan. Shalimar Garden in Lahore is a masterpiece from the time of the brilliant Mughal civilization. Shalimar Garden was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in Lahore.  It was construction in 1641 AD.
Shalimar garden is a peaceful place in Lahore. Shalimar garden is surrounded by a high wall of brick work. Shalimar garden has 410 fountains. Mughal Emporer Shahjahan built it near to the canal because to feed the fountains and water features that are major a part of Shalimar garden.

There are three level terraces in the Shalimar garden, their names are following:

1. Upper level terrace is Farah Baksh that means Bestower of Pleasure. (Having 105 fountains)
2. Middle level terrace is Faiz Baksh that means Bestower of Goodness. (Having 152 fountains)
3. Lower level terrace is Hayat Baksh that means Bestower of life. (Having 153 fountains)

Shalimar garden has white marble buildings in typical Shah Jahani style. A variety of trees are planted in the Shalimar garden. Mela Chiraghan festival used to take place in the Shalimar garden, until President Ayub Khan ordered against it in 1958.

Shalimar garden is open for the public; any one can go there to enjoy the peaceful environment and cool sites.  Many foreigners come to see the beautiful sites of Shalimar garden. It has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Shalimar garden is a great cultural asset for Pakistanis and they should take care of this treasure.
