Pakistan Hockey Team: Failure in London Olympics 2012

- Pakistani

Pakistan’s Hockey team could not qualify in the semi-final in London Olympics 2012. On 7th August Pakistan’s match was against Australia and Pakistanis had to face defeat by 7-0.

Australia scored the first goal in initial five minutes and after a minute scored the second one. Their position took a strong grip on the game against Pakistanis.

In the first half Australia scored 4 goals against Pakistan. Pakistanis’ body language seemed that they became more demotivated and confused.

Pakistan seemed to make an effort after the first five minutes but could not create any chances.   In the second half Pakistan got chances but they could not convert them into goals.

Pakistanis were depressed and they were showing poor performance. The other team got more advantage to confirm their victory.

Pakistan hockey team played 5 matches in London Olympics 2012 as:

Pakistan VS Spain:            1-1 draws
Pakistan VS Argentina:       2-0 (Pakistan’s victory)
Pakistan VS Great Britain:   4-1 (Pakistan’s defeat)
Pakistan VS South Africa:    5-4(Pakistan’s victory)
Pakistan VS Australia:        7-0(Pakistan’s defeat, disqualify in semi-final)

Before the semi-final match Pakistanis were with hope to get a gold medal but semi-final results show that they could not make their dreams come true.

In the semi-final, Pakistanis were being observed to show lifeless performance, lacking in their fitness level and team management.

It is obviously sad that Pakistan could not win a gold medal in the national game and 8th rank Pakistani team only won two matches against 11th-ranked Argentina and 12th-ranked South Africa. Their defeat brings them back 4 years ago in the Beijing Olympics. They need more practice and courage to improve their position.
