Difa-i-Pakistan’s Protest, to Remain closed the NATO’s Supply Routes to Afghanistan

- Pakistani

Difa-i-Pakistan Council (DPC) is a group of religious leaders who are in opposition of Pakistan’s decision to allow US and other NATO countries to restart the supplies through the country to Afghanistan.

That time is not so far when NATO helicopters and fighter jets attacked two military outposts in northwest Pakistan and killed as many as 28 troops. Then Pakistan shut down NATO supply routes into Afghanistan. Now US had apologised for deaths and wanted that Pakistan reopen the routs. Pakistani government is ready to reopen the routs for supply.

Difa-i-Pakistan Council (DPC) is against the government’s decision and for this they started protest and they launched a long march on the 275-kilometre journey from the eastern city of Lahore to Islamabad.

The organisers’ spokesman Yahya Mujahid told AFP,  “Some 25,000 people have joined us at the start of (the) long march and many more would join on the way, while we have 3,000 people with us who are performing security duties

“This is the beginning of our struggle. We want the USA to not only leave Afghanistan, but Pakistan also,” the DPC chairman Maulana Samiul Haq said at a rally before the convoy set off.

The leaders of Difa-i- Pakistan were at the back in the rally; they wanted that more people join the rally from different places where they are passing.

“They are patriotic Pakistanis and they want to register their protest and we have given permission to them to do it peacefully,”Rehman Malik said.

Hina Rabbani Khar is also in this favour not to reopen the routs for NATO supply.

The government should not take any risk that would be dangerous for the Pakistanis. There is a danger of loss because one time Pakistan has practised it. Then it should not repeat the mistake. America is a clever one country when it would feel that its purpose has fulfilled, it can take any step without considering the benefits of Pakistanis. Pakistanis should realize the benefits or loss of the whole nation instead of only relying upon their individual benefits.
